JOIN US FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL CAMELLIA FESTIVAL AND CPRD RUN/WALK
The Camellia Festival kicks off at 9 am with a 5k and 10k run/walk coordinated by Chehalem Parks and Recreation District (CPRD) followed by performances, a bloom show, kids activities, vendors and more from 10 am - 5 pm at the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, Oregon. The performance line-up features groups such as Unit Souzou Taiko, Lee’s Lion and Dragon Dancers, and The Oregon Koto Kai Ensemble and will take place throughout the day. Vendors from around the region sell food, crafts and jewelry connected to Pan-Asian culture. There are fascinating demonstrations, hands-on art-activities for kids and historic city tours offered to give visitors a look at Newberg’s favorite historic sites. The festival is also host to the Oregon Camellia Society’s bloom show, highlighting the official City of Newberg Camellia flower and its Asian origins. Assistance is offered on bloom preparation prior to judging so that anyone can enter a camellia bloom into this show. Plant sales will run throughout the festival, offering gardeners an opportunity to purchase unique plants and garden art. There’s something for all ages and interests!
