Currents Gallery in McMinnville is honored to present the award-winning work of Kathleen Buck in its upcoming June show. Kathleen paints primarily in acrylics, combining abstract shapes with a recognizable subject. Recently, she has added textured collages to her paintings to create further depth. She uses both luminous bright colors as well as a strong interplay of light and dark patterns that flow throughout the painting. This technique unifies the abstract and the real, thereby serving to capture a memory or a moment in time. For the current show, she has produced work that focuses on people and shapes at the beach. The bright colors and strong contrast of light and dark patterns recreate the excitement and energy of the dynamic elements found at the coast. Kathleen has won awards in the 2005 Watercolor of Oregon Fall Show, the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts and several Village Gallery juried shows.
